Accessibility & Usability

You have a website, are you sure people can access it?
Our web accessibility services can increase accessibility
and usability
for people:
» with visual,
hearing, physical and cognitive disabilities
» using new
technologies (cell phones, handheld devices, internet TV)
» using old
technologies (slow modems, old browsers)
» who don't
speak English (text to other languages)
» who can't
read
Web accessibility and disability discrimination.
Recent case law in Australia has highlighted the issue of
web accessibility. It is true to say that the vast majority
of web sites currently in use do not offer access through
text to speech browsers for the visually impaired. Although
this is yet to be law in the UK, we feel there is more than
a moral requirement to consider the current disability access
guidelines from the World Wide Web Consortium.
There is no planned change in the law on this issue that we
are aware of, however with regards to B2E (business to employee)
Intranet sites, it certainly has disability discrimination
implications and therefore should become a moral obligation
to implement the level one guidelines as a starting point.
In the US, it has already become a legal requirement for some
sites to be at least level one compliant or be taking 'reasonable'
steps to achieve this level of accessibility.
We feel this is a genuine issue that needs to be addressed
and believe we can offer a cost effective way to implement
the recommended accessibility guidelines. We are also offering
consultancy to site owners to assist your implementation and
we can also offer a validation service for your current design
to review its accessibility issues.
